This webinar focusses on the prevention of Repetitive strain injuries (RSIs) in the dental profession. RSIs are injuries of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems that are caused by repetitive tasks, such as periodontal instrumentation. Being a very common problem in dental professionals, especially amongst dental hygienists, there are ergonomic considerations for periodontal instrumentation in order to prevent RSIs. Instruments for periodontal instrumentation can also have an effect on developing or prevention of these injuries.

Upon completion of this CE webinar, the student will be able to: Identify and name what causes RSIs; Understand why RSIs are such a common problem for dental hygienists; Identify and be aware of correct body and hand positioning during the scaling procedure to prevent RSIs; Identify which instrument designs can help to prevent RSIs   ( disclaimer, bio and commercial disclosure )
