NiteBite is a therapeutic appliance designed to relieve discomfort associated with bruxism and clenching. It does so by initiating the jaw-opening reflex. NiteBite is designed to fit most patients without the need for taking impressions. NiteBite is comprised of a rigid outer layer and a thermoplastic inner layer. After immersion in hot water (160-180 ˚F) for 45 seconds, it is centered over maxillary central incisors with firm, even pressure; some excess material may be extruded. After NiteBite forms in the mouth and cools for about two minutes, it is removed and run under cold water to promote a final set. There should be no posterior occlusion when lower incisors are in contact with NiteBite. NiteBite was evaluated by 15 consultants in 75 uses. This appliance received a 91% clinical rating.
