"Futar Bite Registration Materials are a family of thixotropic addition silicones (VPS), available in five formulations: Futar, Futar D, Futar D Fast, Futar D Slow, and Futar Scan. Futar has a reported hardness (Shore A 90) but it is still softer than the reported hardness of the Futar D materials (Shore D 35-43). Futar Scan has a matte surface for recording opposing dentition using an optical scanner for CAD/CAM systems. It can also be used for routine bite registrations. All five materials are supplied in 50-ml cartridges in packs of 2, 6, or 12 cartridges with mixing tips and are dispensed with a standard dispensing gun. Thirty-three consultants evaluated Futar Bite Registration Materials in 346 clinical applications. This product line received a 92% clinical rating.
