Dentists have an important role to play in the opioid crisis. It is estimated that over 40% of a young adult’s first prescription of an opioid comes from a dentist. This group of patients are the most susceptible to developing an addiction to these drugs. This CE webinar will discuss the various issues of pain management and control with a focus at eliminating the need for opioids. It starts with initial management of pain by effective local anesthetic administration. The utilization of local anesthetic agents such as articaine have been shown to reduce the initial pain. This is then augmented with longer acting agents combined with non-steroidal and acetaminophen systemic administration. By using strategies currently available in practice dentists can work to be part of the solution to the opioid epidemic. ( full description, bio and commercial disclosure )

Knowing this, we will look at product selection and practice techniques that work to alleviate stress from the anxious patient, creating relief for the provider. Stress relief is essential to a healthy career and improved patient care. Here’s to less stress!

Bioactive restorative materials and prevention products with bioavailable properties are revolutionizing the dental industry. Take your patient care to the next level by incorporating treatments that do more than just ‘fill’ or ‘clean’ teeth. Learn how glass ionomer cement sealants can do more than just provide a physical barrier from plaque on pits and fissures, they are hydrophilic, can be placed on partially erupted molars, and act as a fluoride reservoir that helps to prevent caries and enhance remineralization. Sealants and toothpastes with RECALDENT® technology increase the bioavailable calcium and phosphate in saliva to enhance enamel remineralization and reduce sensitivity without staining enamel. Glass hybrid restoratives help to reduce post-op sensitivity, reduce recurrent caries, improve outcomes, and have enhanced physical properties for long-lasting durability and esthetics. Dental materials are evolving and so should you! ( full description, bio and commercial disclosure )

Surface and sub-surface enamel discolorations may bring a patient into the office for esthetic treatment. Traditional treatment for these lesions could involve composite resins or ceramic veneers. More conservative options are available for removing minimal tooth structure that do not involve bonding restorative materials which need to be replaced over time. Microabrasion is a technique which removes up to 100 microns of the outer layer of enamel. Resin infiltration is a new technique which removes some of the outer layer of enamel and then infiltrates an unfilled resin into the space. This CE webinar will describe both techniques and how to use them in combination. ( full description, bio and commercial disclosure )

Flowable composite resins have long since been used effectively in preventative and restorative pediatric dentistry. But until now their use has been generally limited to sealants and liners. Recent improvements in mechanical properties and availability of different viscosities have changed how we view and use flowable resins. We now have many different flowables with different properties to choose from. Specifically, variations in viscosity lead to different clinical indications. We can now match appropriate viscosity and delivery to appropriate clinical scenario. As a result, flowable resins have a newly increased versatility and usefulness for different restorative situations. This CE webinar will walk through the advantages of different viscosity flowable resins and their indications for use with your pediatric patients. We will study several different clinical cases and choices of material for most effective and efficient use of our materials to best serve our patients.
