Health inequities persist for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Individuals with developmental disabilities experience poorer oral health and challenges accessing dental care. Historically, the dental curriculum did not require training dental professionals to care for and manage the treatment of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Providers often report feeling unprepared to care for this population.
