In a world of scanners, lasers, and 3D printers, why would a dentist invest in GBT for their hygiene department? Dentists will never be free of the temptation to purchase another toy. Constant innovation in technology regularly promises to make dentistry easier, more predictable, and highly satisfying for the patient. The problem is, most equipment upgrades are used, at best, once or twice a day. Guided Biofilm Therapy is the one investment in dentistry that can be used on every patient that comes in for hygiene, making their experience more pleasant, efficient, effective, and motivating. Want to learn about “permanent lifestyle change” and quence your patients’ flames & their disease risk? There is an avalanche of evidence demonstrating the connection between your patients’ mouths with their modern lifestyle habits: lack of sleep (saps their discipline), shift work (after 4 night-shifts blood sugar is elevated), poorly managed stress (shows up in every cell of their body), overeating (high fat & processed food boosts inflammation), and sedentary living (did you know “Sitting is the New Smoking?”). And it’s bi-directional; the oral environment has far reaching effects on the rest of the body.

Patients appreciate the dental health professional who sees the bigger picture in the body, mind and mouth and see its interconnectedness. Stop the fiery cascade with specific dental & lifestyle solutions guaranteed to change your patients' health destiny. This fact filled and inspirational CE webinar is a "call to arms" against “hot spots” of inflammation – “let’s douse the flames!” ( full description, bio and commercial disclosure )

Periodontal disease is no longer understood as a condition driven by biofilm alone. Emerging evidence continues to highlight the role of airway dysfunction, altered breathing patterns, and chronic inflammation as contributing risk factors to periodontal breakdown. This two-part CE webinar series explores the airway–inflammation–periodontal connection through a prevention-focused, hygiene-centered lens. Participants will learn how mouth breathing and sleep-disordered breathing influence the oral microbiome, salivary function, and inflammatory burden, and how these changes present clinically during routine hygiene visits. Dental hygienists will gain practical tools for recognizing airway-related red flags, implementing simple screening strategies within their scope, communicating findings confidently with patients, and integrating prevention-based periodontal care models that support long-term stability. We are all familiar with fluoride varnish but in today’s environment of fluoride hesitancy, misinformation, and marketing noise, it’s easy to lose sight of the science that makes it so effective. To continue delivering the highest standard of preventive care, clinicians need a clear understanding of what actually happens after varnish is applied and why those mechanisms matter clinically. This CE webinar takes a closer look at the science behind fluoride varnish, including fluoride uptake, fluorapatite formation, and the role prolonged contact time plays in long-term enamel protection. We’ll also explore how varnish formulations behave on the tooth surface and what clinicians should consider when selecting a varnish for their patients. The current technological advances led to creating of all-tissues lasers for dental use like Er:YAG and CO2. However, these lasers have different characteristics based on their wavelength and main chromophores. While the Er:YAG laser is absorbed mainly by water and less by hydroxyapatite, the CO2 laser(s) are predominantly absorbed by hydroxyapatite and less by water. These differences are giving specific tissue interactions providing advantages and disadvantages in the context of different procedures. In contrast with Er:YAG laser the CO2 laser can ensure absolute hemostasis which is essential for the bleeding control but this is not desirable during the flap surgery where the tissue vitality is essential for the final success of the therapy. The caries treatment is also a challenge for the CO2 laser because of the highest absorption in the hydroxyapatite which is resulting in superficial energy concentration and melting. And while the melted surface is preferred for treatment of dentinal hypersensitivity, in the context of caries treatment it could affect negatively the adhesive strength. These and many other aspects of laser-assisted treatment will be discussed in this lecture illustrated by relevant clinical cases and supported by evidence-based scientific data. Oral health for older adults is an increasingly significant challenge in dentistry today. As people age, their risk of developing caries, periodontal disease, and other oral health complications rises. This heightened risk is often exacerbated by systemic health conditions, polypharmacy, and decreased dexterity, which can impact daily hygiene practices. These factors not only affect their access to dental care but also influence how treatments must be planned and delivered. This evidence-based CE webinar equips dental professionals with practical strategies to enhance the quality of care for older adults in dental office settings. Participants will learn to identify the specific caries risk factors associated with aging patients, apply preventive and minimally invasive management strategies, and adjust treatment protocols for medically fragile individuals. The webinar will also address the impact of changing insurance structures after retirement on access to care, as well as how dental teams can navigate these challenges to provide effective and patient-centered outcomes.
